While in Tokyo, I purchased two old Toshiba laptops for use as email terminals for my wife and her sister. I brought one of them in on the bus this morning with the intention of doing a little work toward installing Linux on it ... and left it on the bus. I chased up the schedule of the bus and checked with the driver as he passed the University on his return run, but no luck; it's been lifted. My wife will be hurt if she knows I've lost this thing, so my first thought was to try to replace it. I've got the receipt, but as fate would have it the name of the shop is so faint I can't make it out. Maybe someone on the list can help, either with the name of the shop, or (plead, beg, grovel) by dropping in and reserving a machine for me if there are any left? (Toshiba Satellite 110CS, they were going for 25,000 yen, but I'll pay a bit extra for packing and shipping) The shop is on the main drag, where Yamagiwa and T-Zone are lined up, on that same side of the street. It's in the middle of the next block away from the station from T-Zone. The shop is a tiny storefront that mostly flogs used software, and it has the word "Outlet" in large letters on the storefront sign. It's next to a shoe store. If anyone can help with this, please write to me privately (or pillory me on the list, I guess --- I can hardly complain, under the circumstances). And by the way, I had a great time at the nomikai. It was good to meet everyone.
