There are 3 kind of rights around software and leagal person and natural person
can hace them. In most japanese companies if you use company resource and sold
time to write some , Company has the ownership of it. 

1) Copyright.
   I prefer copyleft ;-) 

2) patent.

  I heard Mr. Kitano has a software patent.

3) Program touroku (registration)

I think you would be better to consult your patent attorneies.
