This actually is what I was getting suspicious of.

Yes, I will. After I accidently managed to debug the script while it was
running in a working directory and so did not care so much about installing
cgiwrap anymore (the is a debian package, which I could have tried as well,
as I just discovered ...) I thought that maybe to be able to know how to
configure apache adn suexec correctly is one of the more important things to
learn in my next spare time ... (But you never bothered with that, hm ...)

Yes, I found this in the *.conf files somewhere, it is called apache on my
system.
