It's the industry's standard, not David Hinds's. I guess you could use the human readable strings for airchecking, but please note that the marketroids do NOT want human-readable strings as IDs; that would get in the way of their ability to put a flashing yellow NEW! sticker on the same old card and have nobody notice....
