Evening, Again, I spent a whole afternoon trying to get japanese working with tex, dvips, etc. Obviously I'm having problems with fonts (or font generation): [boti@example.com textest]$ dvi2ps -d ja_test.dvi open fontdesc /usr/share/texmf/dvi2ps/fontdesc @(#)dvi2ps 3.0a1 Prescanning .trying to access ./dmjkf10.1037pk trying to access /usr/share/texmf/fonts/pk/dmjkf10.1037pk trying to access /usr/share/texmf/fonts/pk/dviout/dmjkf10.1037pk No font file for dmjkf10 (mag 1728) ... Similarly in dvips I get font (generation) errors: boti@example.com textest]$ dvips ja_test.dvi This is dvipsk 5.78 p1.4d Copyright 1996-2000 ASCII Corp.(www-ptex@example.com) %dvipsk 5.78 Copyright 1998 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com) ' TeX output 2001.01.17:2351' -> |lpr kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode ljfour --bdpi 600 --mag magstep\(3.0\) --dpi 1037 dmjkf10 mktexpk: Running mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=magstep(3.0); nonstopmode; input dmjkf10This is METAFONT, Version 2.7182 (Web2C 7.3.1) kpathsea: Running mktexmf dmjkf10 ! I can't find file `dmjkf10'. <*> ...g:=magstep(3.0); nonstopmode; input dmjkf10 I have the dmjkf10 font in TFM format: [boti@example.com textest]$ kpsewhich dmjkf10.tfm /usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/mling/nttsub/dmjkf10.tfm I also tried platex, it also bails out with similar font errors. xdvi-ja gives a segfault, I assume it's font problems too (and a badly written program). What do I need to do for all this to work? How do I get mktexpk to generate the fonts? HELP! B0Ti.
