no, the spellings aren't anti-american per se, but most of the people that i know that insist on using the extraneous "U" and such, ARE anti-american. but I dont think it's cause-and-effect. And I dont think that any of the people on this LIST are anti-american, I'm talking about other people that i know. Most of which are people that I play everquest with. But they're a weird lot anyway. ----------------------------------------------------- Scott M. As an American who prefers the British (or, according to me, at least, correct) English spellings, I can assure you that there is nothing anti- or even un-American about spelling according to the Oxford English Dictionary. Noah Webster's arbitrary decision is supported by some, ignored by others, and actually disliked by some (me), but his spellings have become one standard for English spelling, one that is usually used by Americans. Compare this to the emacs vs. vi, Gnome vs. KDE, or FSF vs. OSI debates. Both choices do the same things, both are valid, both are preferred by some people and detested by others. In short, chose a spelling standard and apply it consistantly. --------------------------------------------------- "No segfault, no problem."
