X keymapping using xmodmap is _hard_ to get close to right. You are very likely to screw yourself at some later date because xmodmap does not know about any of the cross constraints the X keyboard model imposes on the keymap. Get this straight: mostly GUI sucks as an idea, and even where it's a good idea the implementations suck. Don't forget: the N in GNOME is silent, it's pronounced "gomi". KDE is for "kiddies" (with or without script). X11 itself is no exception, although it's at least not shameful for real men to admit using it. But then there's XKeyCaps Don't leave text mode without it. Not only is the interface right, but it knows the X keyboard model. http://www.jwz.org/xkeycaps/ (Could you ask for a better reference, Peter?) Undoubtedly there's also an RPM. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
