"I couldn't find any real advantage to driving a BMW and paying the extra money ..." until I drove one. Same thing for SCSI in my experience. Technically, IDE : SCSI :: Winmodem : Realmodem. Not a pleasant thought, is it? NB I have no experience with the new UDMA drive/controller combos. But every alleged improvement in IDE performance in the past has failed to bring IDE up to SCSI levels in my experience. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
