I know of the workaround, and applied it to my kernel options as soon as it hit the kernel mailing list. That made matters better, but the machine still locked a lot, only in X, only when I was using the nVidia drivers. When I switched to the unaccelerated XFree86 driver, things cleared up. Call it a coincidence if you like, but I call it shit, and since I do not game on my boxen, I will buy a Matrox next time.
