I would not expect that to actually work. You should specify the mixer
device, not the dsp device...

But do you have /dev/mixer0 and /dev/mixer1 ?

That probably doesn't work because of sox default values.
rec -r 44100 -s -w -c 2 -t wav test.wav
should work.

You can't record from the mixer device :-)

Also, if you use alsa, make sure the oss compatiblity modules are loaded
or use alsa compatible programs...
