[tlug] autoconf / automake

I am in the unfortunate position of trying to learn how to use the GNU
autocruft tools (autoconf, automake). Can anybody point me to a basic intro,
with lots of examples? I searched Google, and attempted to RTFM the GNU docs,
but I don't have a ton of time to learn this stuff.
