As an additional note, if your database servers have no need to access the internet or any internal dns, you would be good off to comment out or remove the hosts dns entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf. ie. from something like this hosts: files dns to this hosts: files #dns This will remove the reverse lookups altogether for any services.
