Hey kids, I finally took the leap and got wireless internet, and it's presentple a small (I hope) problem. I just bought an Air-H" modem the other day. Signed on with DION for my ISP. If anyone has intimate knowledge about this modem, that's great, if you just know the basics about modems, that's still great. I know little, except mine generally work. The Air-H" is recognized by pcmcia, and even KPPP (my dialer), and it initializes fine. However, when I log in using the general KPPP stuff, I get to the part where KPPP tries to set the volume, I get an "ERROR" message in the log window. I flipped through the manual (all in nihongo) and managed to get a few things from the pictures ;) It apparently needs the "AT#A0" string after initializing. Did that in KPPP's terminal window, then tried dialing with "ATDT#######" where the pounds are the numbers. It tries to connect at 57600 (should be connecting at 128k) It sits at the "CONNECT" echo for a while, then drops to "NO CARRIER". Is there something I'm doing horribly wrong, or might this be a Winmodem problem (in which case I will take it back), or does anyone have the slightest idea? It looks like this ATZ OK AT#A0 OK ATDT############ CONNECT AT 57600 NO CARRIER TIA, X
