> I believe this source might be relyable. > http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/biztech/12/10/meta.linux.reut/ The source may be reliable but what the article actually said was that, according to some senior director at Microsoft, they have NO plans to move any of their software to Linux (as many here already conjectured). What it *does* say is that some market research group (which I've never even heard of before) is predicting that M$ will not be able to maintain that position and that they will ultimately be forced to accept the reality of Linux (et.al) penetration into the server market -- and by sometime next year, at that. As usual, CNN twisted the grammar around so that the only thing most people see is "Microsoft" and "Linux", causing them to jump to the wrong conclusion. I don't see anything in the article that suggests M$ is going to be changing their Windoze-only position any time soon. For the record, I personally think they will eventually have to re-think their policy on non-OS software (especially M$-Office) in order to keep the Open Source conversion from being a total loss for them. I believe their Office products must land them more money than the desktop OS does anyway. -- Joe Larabell -- Synopsys VCS Support US: larabell@example.com http://wwwin.synopsys.com/~larabell/ Japan: larabell@?jp
