Sylpheed is THE e-mail reader for Linux.

I use mozilla though; It's got roughly the same features, but with the 
addition of a nice bayesian spam filter. The junk mail doesn't actually 
go to Trash, it goes into a nice Junk folder with a number that tells 
you how much spam you get each day. I've found it's around 100 on 
weekdays and 70 on weekends.

Rather amusing :)
