I tend to use konqueror as my browser. mozilla takes too long to start, opera 
is interesting but some of the things that would make it really nice don't 
seem to work as well as they could.
Anyway my point would be that if I tell konq not to do popups then it also 
tends to refuse to do frames, because you've told it not to "open other 
windows" and it figures frames are other windows.

Thanks for that. Been a while since I've snorted coffee (out the nose you say? 
not in?) and "the cat that lives here" is not the sort to sit on anyone's 
lap...
