Actually they're more down-to-earth :)

It would seem as though the RH9 installer is forgetting the crucial "mkswap"
command somewhere along the line.

If you can log into a console somewhere between the partitioning stage and
the error message being produced - or just before rebooting - then try
running "mkswap /dev/hda3".

man mkswap for more details - once RH9 is installed, of course :)
