For instance if you have RedHat, there's one way to get the programs, if you have Gentoo, another. > > But (and maybe this is a stupid question) I expect most of my Japanese input > to be in things like text editors, word processors, email and browsers - not > in a terminal window. If the issue is vi, then possibly yes. :) As you're apparently a newcomer to Linux, we're being a bit indulgent here, but it's frequently difficult to help without enough information. For instance, are you using a Japanese keyboard? An English one? When you say emailer, will it be kmail, sylpheed, mutt or something else? Which browser, as some behave differently? Have you looked at the page that both Shawn and I mentioned? It may answer some of the questions, though since it just deals with the apps that I use, it won't answer others. (For example, I think you mentioned Evolution, which I've never used.) I would say first take a look at that page and see if the scripts mentioned there help at all. If something isn't clear there, then tell me, since, as it was written for the novice, if something isn't clear it's a bug in the documentation. > > > > > > > > It's 6:00 am there? But this is the Tokyo Linux User's Group. :-) You'll find that we're pretty international here. :) -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 D575 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Buffy: Ampata wasn't evil. At least, not to begin with. And...I do think she cared about you. Xander: Yeah, but I think that whole sucking the life out of people thing would've been a strain on the relationship.Attachment: pgp00016.pgp
