[tlug] Out of Memory: can't log in to my machine

- Subject: [tlug] Out of Memory: can't log in to my machine
- User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1 (ax)
I have a RH machine running as a web server and this morning I came in
to find the following message being repeatedly displayed on the root
console:
Out of Memory: Killed process 13649 (httpd)
I can't even log in to the machine. I get the login prompt and can enter
a login name but the password prompt never comes up.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can log in to the machine
without rebooting it? I would like to have a look around and see what
caused this problem. I'm guessing it's something a user installed
(possibly MySQL or a Perl cgi) and want to track this problem down.
Thanks,
Jean-Christian Imbeault
