Thanks for the help from everybody who helped. To Baba Yoshiko: The description from you and from the site is quite good but in Panther the whole thing works first then correctly when you put an .xinitrc in the home-directory. The output is at my system not that nice but it will work for the things i have to do in japanese. To linux on the ibook g4: very hard thing - i tried it with yellow dog: no chance to get the xserver to run with a higher colordepth of 8bit. compilation of the cvs always failed and as often as i read the gentoo and debian got it to run as often i read that their solution is very unstable... i will wait 'til there is a stable solution for the problem of the graphic card. and i become more and more a friend to the unix-part of mac os x (the only thing which will not run is the handling of cramfs and mounting of filesystems in datas per loopback (but usually you can do this with the gui from mac) greetings niels *who will move to tokyo very soon* :)
