I got the from dmesg:
bk@example.com:~$ dmesg | grep tty
cdc_acm 1-1:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device

This is from /var/log/syslog when I plugged in the device:
Jan  8 23:40:16 localhost kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device
using address 4
Jan  8 23:40:16 localhost kernel: drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.c: Ignoring
extra header
Jan  8 23:40:16 localhost kernel: cdc_acm 1-1:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM
device

I also tried to modprobe usbserial before probing the modem, but it
didn't work either :(
