Why don't you write a quicky shell script: #!/bin/bash LANG=ja_JP XMODIFIERS=@example.com=kinput2 /usr/bin/mozilla And then use the shell script to start Mozilla, either by typing it into the launcher dialogue, or by creating a shortcut on your desktop. The latter is the strategy I use for making all of the apps my wife uses able to input Japanese. You could presumably do the same thing for GNOME terminal. -Josh
