Uh ... excuse me?  What in the world does kernel version have to do
with printer drivers, at least on anything resembling a modern OS?
This is (or should be) all in user space.  I guess it's a little late
to save your print quality, but maybe you'd like to share the error
messages with posterity?  I'm really curious.
