Fedora is not for newbies, any more than Debian is.
SuSE apparently isn't too unfriendly, and has the advantage that one
of their in-house Japanese advocates (Mike Fabian) is a regular on TLUG.
Ubuntu and Knoppix both come well-recommended by people I know who are
in the business of serving newbies, and Jim T is newbie friendly and
knows what he's talking about---a strong recommendation for Ubuntu
there. Both Ubuntu and Knoppix provide "live" CDs (as
download-and-burn ISO images). I know Ubuntu is Debian-based, and I
think Knoppix is as well, so they provide an easy upgrade path to a
more hands-on experience.

Ask not how you can "do" free software business;
ask what your business can "do for" free software.
