Heh, you've got your ninjer history and such mixed up. 

There is a Stephen Turnbull who wrote a book about the historical ninja.
(Spelling might be different, not sure of that.)

Then there is Stephen K. Hayes, (often known as SKH in ninjer circles)
who studied with Hatusumi sensei and basically popularized the style.

He's the one married to Rumiko.  :)
