I have heard of some vendors selling 64-bit machines, but they want a lot of money for them: in the area of $4000 to $5000. (Can't remember the names -- I read about them in PC Mag (立ち読み at the drugstore).) I have built two 64-bit machines with AMD64 FX processors, 2GB of fast OCX RAM, 120GB SATA HD, for about $1700 each. That was 6 or 8 months ago. You can probably do it cheaper now. And they totally scream. They run about 7 times faster than the Alpha they were to replace. -- Stuart Luppescu -=-=- s-luppescu <AT> uchicago <DOT> edu CCSR at U of C ,.;-*^*-;., www.consortium-chicago.org (^_^)/ $B:MJ8$HCRF`H~$NIc(B Where are we going?
