OK, I know three Akihabara years are equal to 10 or > >20 human years :) There's been a lot of changes recently, the re-developments finally starting to show results. More changes are coming (some building are not open yet and Yamagiwa main store is being torn down). Also I think you'd be surprised to see all the maids wandering around in Akihabara nowadays :-) > T-Zone still has their "T-ZONE. PC DIY SHOP": > http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/shop/at/tzone_pcdiy.html Nice place where there is no penalty to use a credit card. > Also, while I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, Yodobashi Camera > just opened a huge new store in a squeaky new building on the other side > of Akihabara Station from the main electronics area, but right next to > the station nevertheless. Has anyone checked that out yet? Do they have > a book section? They don't have a book section, there is a Yurindo in the building. I have only walked through it briefly and don't recall seeing any English books. On their map they didn't list an English book section. http://www.yurindo.co.jp/shop/yodobashi_akiba.html On the topic, Shosen book tower in Akihabara used to have an English computer book section but last time I went it disappeared. The shopkeeper said they don't carry them in the store anymore. Sanseido in Jimbocho has an English book section of moderate size, though not many computer books. Maruzen Marunouchi Main next to JR Tokyo station has a big English book section, though I find their computer books selection a bit hit-or-miss (YMMV). Stephen
