Only plain text... Vim is great, but if you've never used it before, it will take you some time to learn. Bluefish is like a standard plain text editor, with syntax highlighting and some menus to help you with HTML syntax. With vim, to convert the older pages to UTF-8 you can open each file, type the command ':set fileencoding=utf-8' and save the file. With bluefish, you can select the encoding in the menus (Document -> Character Encoding). But they won't convert the HTML entities for you. For that the best way that I know of is to open your old page with your browser (e.g. Firefox), and copy-paste the Japanese strings... Evan
