Speaking as a humble newbie and lurker I have to say that I was inspired by the near-perfection of Brendan's question to the list.  Though generally too shy to post my own questions I always read comments about other peoples questions carefully and take the admonitions and suggestions to heart.  I've frequently reviewed the well known "How to ask questions" document.  But until now I don't believe I've read a question that better exemplified all the guidelines that I've spent so much time contemplating.

I wish I had some insight to offer Brendan about his connectivity problems.  All I can say is that based on who you've enticed to reply to your query, (yet further affirmation of your question's quality), you're in good hands.
