I'm a BitTorrent newbie, and although I did succeed in downloading a few seasons of the Sopranos at occasionally good speeds, with other files, I get stuck with extremely slow download speeds most of the time.I don't know whether this has to do with local firewall settings, or simply the fact that the files I am trying to get are problematic, but I would just like to ask this for now:In Debian, I am using the Guarddog firewall. I currently have ticked off the boxes for "BitTorrent Peer" and "BitTorrent Tracker."Is there any other protocol that should be selected, or any other tweak that should be done to the firewall to facilitate BitTorrent? I am on a fiber-optic network in my Manshon.Currently, with this torrent http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3462735I usually start off with a decent speed, such as 50 kbs, but then it drops down to a steady 2 kbs or so.Regards, Chuck --------------------------- Charles Muller Toyo Gakuen University Faculty of Humanities 1660 Hiregasaki, Nagareyama-shi Chiba 270-0161 JAPAN Mobile Phone: 090-9310-1787 Web Site: Resources for East Asian Language and Thought http://www.acmuller.net <acmuller[at]jj.em-net.ne.jp>
