  Thanks!  This is exactly the problem I'm running into.  I enabled 
LDAP to try to consolidate logins awhile back.
    I hope the Gentoo folk will eventually fix this problem.  Or at the 
very least put a warning message SOMEWHERE in one of the relevant 
ebuilds so that the user has some awareness of the issues.  I guess I 
should have researched this more but my first guess for debugging a udev 
problem wouldn't have been looking at network authentication 
components.  But now that I've read through the bug I have a 
semi-understanding of why this happened.
