Hello, Because you are using lvm. With lvm volumes you mount the "volume" and not the actual physical device. Try these commands, they should show you the available volumes and a bunch of other useful bits-n-pieces vgdisplay or lvscan or pvdisplay /dev/hda1 Regards, Keith
