With such cleanly cleaved sections, almost any image editor should work. I don't even think of combining such cleanly cleaved images as stitching. With such cleanly cleaved sections, you could even automate the pasting. You might use scriptfu (in Gimp), or even ImageMagick on the command line. Go for the command line!
