Hi Everyone, I just bought a new server which I put together myself. I'm running Fedora Core 5. I have a RAID5 setup with 4 Seagate Barracuda 7200 750GB drives (http://www.seagate.com/products/personal/barracuda.html) each in a smart drive quiet cool case (http://www.users-side.co.jp/shopping/syouhin_page.php?gid=14&cid=57&sgid=156&sid=198&con=10) giving me over 2TB of quiet disk space! Well, after a long day at the office, I came home, plopped down in front of my pc and accidentally bumped my server. It rocked back and forth a little bit, but did not fall over. To say the least I was very upset with myself. The good news is that my pc had been sitting idle for most of the day and I checked my disk i/o and that had been at zero for quite some time as well. Could the heads have been parked or off the platters? The Seagate website says that the Barracuda 7200 series hard drives are designed to withstand 68Gs of operating shock. I'm not seeing any errors and everything is working fine. What are the chances that I did or did not damage my drives? Are there any linux tools which will allow me to confirm if I did or did not damage my drives? Thank you, MattAttachment: signature.asc
