I can't see from the table in the motherboard doc which one it should be. Am not familiar with IRQ numbers other than to avoid a conflict. The doc has a * near some that "are usually available for PCI devices". for example Communications Port(Com1)* since I am not using a modem I wonder about just assigning that. Does it matter if it is one with a low priority? Any suggestions? > I deleted all hardware and device entries and > rebooted and the following is what was detected. > > below is modprobe.conf, /var/log/messages | grep eth0, > and /var/log/messages | grep 8139 (which is the presumed driver) > > Here is modprobe.conf > alias scsi_hostadapter ahci > alias scsi_hostadapter1 ata_piix > alias scsi_hostadapter2 usb-storage > alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel > options snd-card-0 index=0 > options snd-hda-intel index=0 > remove snd-hda-intel { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-hda-intel > alias eth0 8139too > alias peth0 8139too > > [note: there was an "option 8139too" line before alias which I took out > since it was throwing errors.
