- Subject: [tlug] debugfs on ext3 filesystems?
Hi everyone, I was studying the command debugfs and was trying to search for deleted inodes on an ext3 filesystem, but none ever came up, even after deleting a file, unmounting the partition, and running debugfs. Googling around a bit I came up with a post saying essentially that ext3 journaling filesystems make restoring files via deleted inodes impossible. Unfortunately I missed the tech meeting where I'm sure Marty went over this ;-) so I thought I'd ask what you all use to recover files deleted on ext3 filesystems? I found a couple of proprietary programs that claim ext3 recovery, but I was hoping for something open source.. Thanks in advance for any tips, Scott VanDusen Tokyo
