Exactly.  That's what trolling (intentional or inadvertant) achieves.

Please reread Mr. Jacobs's posts carefully and judge for yourself
whether he seems to be honestly conducting conversations, or whether
his handling of them seems to somehow stymie productive interaction.

If you think you can find some common ground, feel free to give it a
try.  TLUG is founded in diversity, and it's plenty big to hold
Mr. Jacobs if he can cooperate with diversity.  That is the "our way"
you mention.
