In fact, a great reason to leave your WAP open is to have plausible deniability for your P2P "piracy". ;)

Ignorance is no defence in a court of law. Having said that, I keep my home WLAN wide open for all and Sundry. Three reasons:
1. I'm lazy. 2. I like to share 3. I'm ignorant ;-)
