If we were really that concerned about audio quality, would we be listening to our music in lossy compression formats and on earbuds or headphones that cost less than the player itself?

I encode my music in ogg 320k or wav. I'd use flac but I have a 20G player and don't really care about file size. But even with ear buds you can hear the difference between ipods and other units playing 128k mp3s. Apple doesn't publish the signal to noise ratio of ipods and it's often said to be around 85dB, quite shocking.
