I deliberately refrained from any comment in the thread about what 
"free" meant, because I couldn't quite get a handle on what the argument 
was about. I suppose that was a result of some fundamental 
miscommunication somewhere between the participants.

I think that in all the discussion on the topic recently, the borders 
between different standpoints have been grey enough to make it easy to 
mix up who said what and when.

Don't worry that I ever had a negative opinion about what you were saying.
