The way I learned vi was quick and embarrassing. I thought I was getting to be elite because I knew pico. (At the time, nano, which is similar, wasn't widespread.) My boss asked me to edit something on the AIX mainframe. I went in typed pico <whatever> and got command not found. (No, at the time I didn't know it only came with pine, I was still much more of a Windows person then.) He said, (not nastily, he was a friend and mentor as well as boss) "You don't know how to use vi? Never mind, I'll do it. Guess what I worked on learning that night? The next day I called and said, "Don't worry, I can do it from now on." -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Angelus: You know, I never properly thanked you for sending me to Hell.
