What happens if you: ping 10.7.0.1
"ping -n 10.7.0.1" to avoid the potential annoying wait for the DNS lookup.
Also, what does /sbin/ifconfig output? (I'm wondering if you have another network setup still there, and that is what firefox tries to use? Do you use DHCP at home as well?)
Also check "netstat -rn" and see if you have a default route pointing somewhere else.
