TLUG,
I realized that my previous posting on my WLAN set up was confused with issues other topics, so I'm posting a fresh thread here in hopes that a simpler issue will attract more advise.
The technical situation has simplified somewhat as well. By reinstalling "network-manager" package, I no longer have any Gnome interface errors. However, my WLAN card still does not function.
To summarize: I set up following instructions here: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/mindrefugee307/13392317.html
This is the card I'm trying to install: http://www.logitec.co.jp/products/wlan/lanwgcb.html
The card driver seems to be installed properly when I look from the command line:
laptop:~$ ndiswrapper -l
mrv8000c : driver installed
device (11AB:1FAA) present
However, in the Gnome GUI interface for "Windows Wireless Drivers", it says "Driver Installed" but "Device Not Present". That can't be good.
In the network settings GUI, I can see a Wireless interface, I can sometimes see signals from wireless networks and their strength rating.
But I almost never see any activity light on the card indicating any kind of connection, and I can't access any web pages through my browser, or make any other kind of internet connection.
I'm stuck as to how to diagnose the problem further. Any help would be much appreciated. I have included what I think might be relevant commands and their output below, in hopes that people who know better than I might be able to see something in them.
Thank you for any advice.
