The Kindle was in the papers here today again. They have about 1/2 page in the business section. You can't fault their PR campaign.
They also mention that the e-books are generally about 1/2 or less the price of the hard-covered paper books with prices of about $10 for new releases and $3 to $6 for older books.
One thing the article mentioned that I haven't seen on the list is that:
"You or any of your authorized minions can e-mail Word, PDF, JPEG and text files directly to your Kindle's special address -- including any of the 20,000 free, out of copyright e-books at Gutenberg.org." That implies that the Kindel somehow reads PDF and Word files, right? Either that or there is intervention that converts formats somewhere in the path.
Personally I don't see a Kindel in my near future. I prefer the real paper to the e-paper. Of course, I did end up lugging about 20 lbs of books back from Tokyo on my last trip, but I doubt that these will be on Kindel any time in the near future anyway.
