A micropayment system might work, where you have to pay two cents to comment (and thus "just my two cents" will have some meaning again!) but the two cents is refunded when your post is judged to be legit by a human. That has a far greater chance of being acceptable for blog commenting than in email, where you don't want to slow things down as much. This would also have the advantage of killing off those idiotic "first" comments. The one advantage this system has over normal moderation is that spambots will be disinclined to pay to post, so the moderation queue will be smaller. -- Cheers, Josh
