Then I would reiterate that you'll find a lot of bloat--some of it is good though, in the sense that more things work out of the box or with a simple apt-get install. Linux man and info pages, after using a BSD, can be painful. Things are kept in different places, as I mentioned before. That was my reason for recommending Arch, it takes less time to find things as it's more BSD like. The lack of separation between kernel and userland can have its advantages in that rather than upgrading the system, then ports, it's all done at once. (It's not perfect, and things break, but in general, it works pretty well.) There are GUIs for firewalls as well, depending upon how specifically you want to lock down your machine, they can be adequate. Although I find PF to be more intuitive than IP tables, that could be habit--on Ubuntu forums, someone was saying the opposite recently. It's far less of an adjustment than going to, for example, Windows from BSD. In many ways, one can say, to the end user, Unix is Unix (I'm including the Unix-like systems). -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Xander: What's going on here? People are going all Felicity with their hair.
