I succeeded in writing a few scripts combining xsl, rsync, gzip, and
cron to generate some data files on a regular basis that are uploaded to
my web site (located at a private web hosting service).
One of the guys that regularly downloads my files wrote this:
This looks fine. The only functionality which may be missing would be a
way to automatically know whether a file has changed without having to
download the whole file. But your web server might already have that
functionality. This is something that a good web server should provide
without you having to do anything.
I looked through my web host's support files and couldn't find anything
on this, nor could I turn up anything relevant by googling key words.
Can someone orient me as to what sort of program/application I should be
looking for?
Thanks,
Chuck
