This is only a suggestion on my part based on what you wrote about
your needs. You did not specify any specific Japanese language support
need, but since this is the Tokyo LUG, let me suggest Vine linux,
which I have had some experience with at Kyoto University. It does use
.deb rather than .rpm, at least in the version I know, but apart from
that I suspect it has all the other support you require. Why I suggest
it is primarily because as a "half-commercial" solution, there are
decent fonts for Japanese included, and you can get paid support too
if needed by your workplace. It seems to be fairly well regarded as a
distribution also, judging by what I heard while at the university.
