Re: [tlug] government getting ready to inspect your iPod, laptop without warrant

Very scary indeed, if not for the privacy concerns than for the
implications of where we are headed...

I'm wondering about security through obsfucation. Of course, encryption
is where it's at, but from what I've read, they will demand your keys.
So preemptively how about multiboot systems that don't display the
choices during boot? There must be some grub hack where you can press
<ctl><alt><F8> or something during the boot to give you an alternative
OS. Not many customs officials are going to fdisk your sata to determine
how those clusters are spent I imagine. Of course, I'm just being
paranoid and overly concerned (hey if you haven't done anything wrong
you shouldn't worry, right?!?) but as a recovering Catholic who is
inherently aghast at the state of our "security" state, I don't want
anyone logging into anything that I own because it just is not right. It
isn't their place to be reading my personal stuff, period.

So, pardon the rant (I've just returned from the Hibiya German beer
festival) and this topic struck a nerve.

Free software, free thinking, free minds!
Cheers
