Oddly enough, the server through which I send almost all of my mail is
125x100x126x243.ap125.ftth.ucom.ne.jp., and I can't recall a single
bounce due to any sort of issue with that name.

Are you sure you didn't have a different problem, such as not having a
proper forward record for that name?
